ইসলামিক সহযোগিতা সংস্থার (ওআইসি) পরবর্তী সেক্রেটারি জেনারেল বা মহাসচিব নির্বাচিত হয়েছেন হুসেইন ইব্রাহিম তাহা তিনি আফ্রিকার দেশ চাদের পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ছিলেন।
বক্তব্য দিচ্ছেন হুসেইন ইব্রাহিম তাহা
নাইজারের রাজধানী নিয়ামিতে ওআইসি ভু্ক্ত পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রীদের ৪৭তম সম্মেলনে শনিবার সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে মহাসচিব নির্বাচিত হন তাহা। তুর্কি বার্তা সংস্থা আনাদলু এক প্রতিবেদনে এ তথ্য জানিয়েছে।
তিনি বর্তমান মহাসচিব ইউসেফ আহমেদ আল-ওথাইমিনের স্থলাভিষিক্ত হবেন। ২০২১ সালের নভেম্বর মাসে ওথাইমিনের মেয়াদ শেষে ওআইসির ১২তম মহাসচিব হিসেবে দায়িত্ব নেবেন তাহা।
ওআইসি ভবন
ইব্রাহিম তাহার আরো দুই প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী ছিলেন। বেনিন ও নাইজেরিয়ার ওই দুই প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বী শেষ পর্যন্ত তাহাকে সমর্থন করেন। এ ছাড়া আল-ওথাইমিন তার নিজের প্রার্থিতা প্রত্যাহার করেন। এতে সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে ওআইসির পরবর্তী মহাসচিব হন তাহা।
১৯৬৯ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত ওআইসি জাতিসংঘের পর বিশ্বের দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম আন্তঃসরকার বিষয়ক সংস্থা। পৃথিবীর চারটি মহাদেশে ছড়িয়ে থাকা ৫৭টি দেশ এর সদস্য।
