বর্তমান সরকারই নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার, এ সরকারকে আর ছোট করার কোনো দরকার নেই বলে মন্তব্য করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। আজ মন্ত্রিসভার বৈঠকে অনির্ধারিত আলোচনায় তিনি এ মন্তব্য করেন।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, গত নির্বাচনের আগে ছোট আকারে নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার করার কথা ভাবা হয়েছিল। কারণ তখন সংসদে বিএনপি ছিল। তাদের নির্বাচনকালীন সরকারে আনার জন্য সে চিন্তা করা হয়েছিল।
তবে এবার তো সংসদে বিএনপি নেই। নির্বাচনকালীন সরকারে অনির্বাচিত কাউকে রাখা যাবে না। তাই এ সরকারই নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার, এ সরকারকে আর ছোট করার কোনো দরকার নেই।
এছাড়া আজকের বৈঠকে জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনের তফসিল ঘোষণার পর মন্ত্রীদের সরকারি সুযোগ-সুবিধা না নেয়ার নির্দেশ দেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। মন্ত্রীদের উদ্দেশ করে তিনি বলেন, আইন অনুযায়ী সবাই নির্বাচনী আচরণবিধি মেনে চলবেন। সরকারি গাড়ি ব্যবহারসহ কোনো ধরনের সরকারি সুযোগ-সুবিধা নেবেন না।
শেখ হাসিনা বলেন, তফসিল ঘোষণার পর এ সরকারের কার্যপরিধি কমে যাবে। নির্বাচনী প্রচারণাকালে সরকারি কোনো সুযোগ-সুবিধা নিতে পারবেন না মন্ত্রী বা এমপিরা।
